The power of Celestial Bodies

There are many types of celestial bodies, but the two I want to talk about is, The Moon, and Stars:

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Stars have always had a place in the Science of Navigation, since ancient times sailers and other travelers have used stars to guide them on their way, the North Star has always been used as a fixed point to navigate safely, so we also must be stars so that the world can see us and use and the light inside of us so that they may find a way to heaven. 

Look up to the sky at night, what do you see?

Stars, How do you know they are there?

Because you can see the light that they produce.

Matthew 5:14-16 “¹⁴Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. ¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

John 3:19 “¹⁹And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

One characteristic of a city in the dark is it’s lights.

In this dark world how will you know if there is a city on a hill?

By the light it emits.

The only way to find a Child of God is by the light that they emit. 

This light is the Holy Ghost at work in them

John 1:4 “⁴In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”

John 8:12 “¹²Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

This life that was in Jesus is in us, and if this life was the light of men, then if we have this life in us, then we must become a light unto men. 

I was once told that “We may be the only Bible some people will ever see” that “The only Jesus some people will ever see is Jesus’ Spirit in you.”

Acts 13:47 “⁴⁷For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.”

Acts 26:15-18 “¹⁵And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. ¹⁶But rise, and stand upon thy feet:for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; ¹⁷Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, ¹⁸To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me”

Romans 2:19 “¹⁹And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,”

Isaiah 60:1-4

“¹Arise, shine; for thy light is come,

and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

 ²For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,

and gross darkness the people:

but the Lord shall arise upon thee,

and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

³And the Gentiles shall come to thy light,

and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

 ⁴Lift up thine eyes round about, and see:

all they gather themselves together, they come to thee:

thy sons shall come from far,

and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side”

We are here to be a guide, a witness, a light unto the lost, and the blind so that they may receive this great inheritance.

The Power of the Moon

The moon has a lot of power in this world, ancient civilizations had ceremonies and worships regarding the moon, in more modern times people plant crops based on the moon cycle. 

The earth spins on a constant 23.5 degree axis, it is what gives us our seasons, the cause for this is the Moon, the Gravitational pull that the moon exerts on us keeps us on this steady rotation. If we didn't have the Moon our axis could shift by anywhere from 15 to 35 degrees, our seasonal change one year could be nonexistent, and extreme the next year. Without the moon our night time would be extremely dark, the brightness of the moon is 1/400,000th of the sun, while the next celestial light source’s brightness is 1/14,000th of the moon, without the Moon our the darkness of night would be overpowering. 

Without the moon the Earth would spin out of control, the earth would spin so fast that our days would only last for 6-8hrs, meaning a year would be 1,000-14000 days long, the Moons gravitational pull on the earth is what slows us down and causes us to have 24hr days. 

The Moon also causes changes in  the tides, causing a natural normal rise and fall of the sea level and other large bodies of water. But one thing that is amazing about the moon is it does not have an internal light source like the Sun, but the Moon reflects the sun. 

Matthew 5:16

“¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We are a reflector of God’s Glory, God is the Sun to those who walk in the light, but we must be the moon to those who walk in darkness. And as the moon we must reflect him, to those who are in the darkness, so that they may see God’s glory.

When we receive the Holy Ghost we receive the ability to, become a witness or the Moon to this darkness of this world, and just like the moon we receive powers.

Acts 1:8 

”⁸But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Every thing in the universe exerts a gravitational pull, from the largest object like planets and huge stars, to moons, and even humans exert gravitational fields. Like the Moon, we exert a tug upon the tides of this world, we now become a force upon our own little worlds, we can affect peoples lives, we may only have 1/400,000th of God’s spirit inside us, but that is all we need to shine in this darkness of this world, its all we need to change the world, you may be like the moon, your witness may be the only thing keeping someones life from spinning out of control.
